Seems we just finished Christmas and now Valentine’s Day is in full swing. Bring on the eco-friendly Valentine’s Day gift ideas!
In fact, when I was at Target finishing up my Christmas shopping a few days before Christmas, they already had boxes of Valentine’s Day things stacked to the side and ready to be moved into the shelves.
We don’t even have time to lose those extra Christmas pounds before the retailers start packing on the heart shaped candy pounds.
I hate talking about diets, I prefer to call them ‘ways of eating’. It sounds much less restrictive. Anyway, call it what you want but you’ve been good (or plan to be good) between New Year’s and Valentine’s Day so one night isn’t going to kill all your hard work. Just don’t let that one night turn into 2 turns into 5 and the next thing you know it’s Spring Break and you feel like a sloth.

Forget the overpriced, overcrowded restaurants on Valentine’s Day. Stay home, grab your favorite PJ’s and be comfy all while celebrating the mushy stuff.
Make it a date night at home with fondue!
Fondue is so much fun and it can be so simple. You can make dinner in the pot, clean it out and then make dessert.
We’ve had this Chantal Classic Fondue set for years and love it. Well, it only gets pulled out on Valentine’s Day but we still love it that one day of the year!
I think we got it as a wedding gift and I’m fairly sure no one spent $100 on it. I can’t personally recommend another one but if I were in the market for one, I’d probably buy this Nostalgia Stainless Steel fondue pot because it’s stainless steel and gets good ratings. I prefer stainless or ceramic for cooking, no toxic chemicals leeching into my food thanks!
You can never and I repeat never, go wrong with chocolate. These are two of my favorite brands because they are organic, fair trade, reasonably priced and taste great. Can’t ask for more, eh?
Green & Blacks Organic Bar 85% Dark
Green & Blacks Organic Milk Chocolate Variety Pack
Endangered Species Variety Pack
For the ultimate chocolate lover, I love the Endangered Species brand and who wouldn’t love a full size chocolate bar in 12 different flavors? Um, no one!
If you’re looking for a gift that will not only make the recipient happy but also some pooches, try out Rescue Chocolate. I love their tag line, ‘The Sweetest Way to Save a Life’. You can check out some other gifts that give back in this blog post.
I’m not entirely sure there’s anything better than chocolate but if you are a better person than I and wish to keep that deliciousness out of your house, hey, I get it. The temptation is deadly.
If you haven’t delved into the world of essential oils, we love using them in our house to support our health and for a lovely scent.
My oil brand of choice is Plant Therapy, the quality is phenomenal and the price is reasonable. I’ve been using them for years and have never had a bad experience.
We have this diffuser in our bedroom and run it every night, during the fall through early spring. The tank holds enough water to last a couple nights. I like that you can turn the light (as small as it is) off if you prefer not to have any light.
We purchased this diffuser for both of our kiddo’s a few months ago and have been very pleased with them.
They provide as much light as a night light and are very quiet. The kids like that the colors change. YAY, everyone’s happy!
Years ago when my daughter was born my friends sent me some fresh cut organic flowers. They were so gorgeous and I loved that they were sustainably farmed.
While I don’t remember the name of the company, I have been looking at Bouqs for the next time I need to send flowers.
The flowers are reasonably priced, freshly cut from eco-friendly flower farms around the world, and how fun to be able to see a photo of the farmer growing the flowers you choose. They also have subscription services available.
Like flowers but looking to give something that lasts longer? How about a house plant? They can improve indoor air quality and remove toxins from the air. My friend Kristen over at Earth Friendly Tips has all the information you need. If you’re looking for a plant specifically for the bedroom, my friend Kimberly over at Get Green Be Well has you covered.
Just make sure the plant is pet friendly if the recipient has a pet.
So what are you waiting for?
Don’t procrastinate like you did during the December holidays, go ahead and grab the fondue pot, some chocolate, a diffuser, some essential oils, and bring on the pretty flowers or plants right now. You’ll have your Valentine’s Day shopping done before the Super Bowl!
Make it a green day!
